Make Your Own 1920's Style Cloche

Learn to make your very own 1920's hat - 1 day Workshop

The cloche hat or simply cloche is a fitted, bell-shaped hat for women that was invented by milliner Caroline Reboux in 1908, became especially popular during the 1920s, and continued to be commonly seen until about 1933. Its name is derived from cloche, the French word for "bell".

During the early twentieth century, the popularity and influence of cloche hats was at its peak. The hats even shaped hairstyles: the Eton crop (the short, slicked-down cut worn by Josephine Baker) became popular because it was ideal to showcase the hats' shape.

The 1920's classes are perfect for beginners who have no experience sewing.

I will explain and demonstrate the steps and procedure of making your very own 1920' s cloche hat trimmed with a simple ribbon trim.

Make a fur felt cloche hat as worn by iconic silent movie actress Louise Brooks:

Learn the basics of blocking with velour and create your own truly unique headpiece. You’ll learn how to steam and shape the felt velour using wooden millinery blocks, cutting and edgeing the hat and millinery stitches.
Create the look of your choice great to wear in many occasions.
